Day 10: Donations

Just a few of the lightly used shoes that were donated

This morning the boys had free time with their host families.  After lunch, the boys taught class at the Aldea and then organized our donations.  Donating in many developing countries can be rather complicated.  There have been instances where our donations get attributed to certain political parties.  While we do not look for recognition, we certainly do not want others to take credit for their own political gain when all we want to do is help less fortunate kids.  On other occasions, the coaches we have entrusted with our donations for their athletes have turned around and sold what we donated to others.  With that in mind, donating is not a simple matter but rather requires a lot of planning and constant reevaluation.  This afternoon, the boys helped organize all of the donations so that this week we can donate what we brought to various groups in and around Esteli.  Thanks in great part to the generosity of the Woodberry community and some local businesses.  I will post more details as they relate to those particular donations.

After a long day, the boys went to the local cafe

Tomorrow the boys will present their speeches about Drew Estate and the coffee making process.
