Day 11: Hear ye Hear ye

 Best speech of the "Day"

This morning the boys presented their speeches on either the coffee making process or our tour of Drew Estate.  While the requirement was at least two minutes, all but one was able to exceed the two minute mark including a couple who hit six!  The speeches were very good, but the best was Nolan's.  He was very poised, and it was clear that Nolan was both thinking and speaking in Spanish.

As is the custom, the boys went home for lunch and then met back up for what they said was their best day of teaching yet.  Of course it helped that we found a huge stack of school supplies yesterday when we were organizing our donations.  For classroom management purposes, the boys decided to re-organize their groups so that they could continue to challenge the more advanced students while also giving the remedial students the support they needed to try to catch up.

Seeing eye to eye

In the evening, a group of boys met back up to donate some of the baseballs Coach Heil donated.  Brandon, as our only WFS baseball player, made a wonderful speech to the little league coaches and administration in which he said he was glad to be able to share baseball (literally and figuratively) with others in Esteli.  Brandon's speech was then reciprocated by the president of the league and another coach who both expressed their appreciation for our continued support.
 Another solid speech

Tomorrow the boys will catch a bit of a mid-week break by swimming in and around the waterfall.
