Day 8: Going to the Country

It is typical for families in Nicaragua to go to the country for the weekend, which is exactly what we did.  The boys got to see the breathtaking view where, depending on the time of year, you can see the sun set over the Pacific or Atlantic ocean.  After trekking and touring, the boys got to ride horses, which was a first for some.
Getting there is half the fun

Some words of advice

For lunch we went to Sr. Rivera's quinta where the boys enjoyed some traditional Nicaraguan dishes like Nacatamales and chicharones along with fresh watermelon, pineapple, mango, and pomegranate.  Some watched the UEFA champions league where Germany beat Portugal, while others enjoyed the pool.

We had planned on going to la Estanzuela after lunch, but it poured down rain, so it was better that we didn't.  Our plan is to reschedule that trip for Wednesday morning.

This was also the day we collected the boys journals.  Most of them completed the required five entries, and they are very good.

Tomorrow we have an early start to the day when we go to Somoto.
